Aston Villa are having a very positive season in the Championship as they currently reside seventh in the table, five points adrift of leaders Cardiff City.

The 2016-17 campaign was disappointing for Steve Bruce’s side as they struggled to fight for a promotion or playoff spot.

The start of this season was not the most encouraging for Villans due to a three-game winless run, but they have since turned around their fortunes.

As it stands, the team have not been beaten in eight league games in a row and have won their last four.

The positive news continued this week when it was announced that 20-year-old Harry McKirdy has signed a new contract until the summer of 2019.

Villa have helped develop the Englishman’s game since 2013 when he joined from Stoke City, and he has gone on to become a regular for the Under-23s.

McKirdy is yet to make his senior debut, but was included in the first team during the club’s pre-season.
