da spicy bet: Everton have been fairly consistent under David Moyes this season, and, sitting 12th in the Premier League, don’t seem under much threat of getting dragged into a relegation battle at the back end of the campaign.

da 888casino: Just three points behind seventh-place Manchester United, perhaps they could even make a push for Europe.

One area that must improve if that was to happen is their goal-scoring potency. It has been underwhelming from the Toffees this term, with their 23 goals better than only six teams. They’re underachieving on expected goals too, a tally which currently sits at 26.44xG.

With that in mind, it may come as no surprise that they are looking to sign a striker this summer.

Everton holding talks to sign Moyes a new striker

Bringing in a new number nine is clearly a target for the Toffees this winter. They have recently been linked to Chelsea academy graduate Tammy Abraham, who now plies his trade out in the Turkish top flight for Besiktas.

It seems as though the Merseysiders could keep looking in the Super Lig for a new striker. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Everton are looking to get a deal for Fenerbahce and Morocco striker Youssef En-Nesyri completed.

They’ve made considerable strides already with negotiations held and have sent an ‘official bid’, according to Romano.

This could well be a swift-moving transfer, given an offer has already been placed. The Toffees have structured the deal in their favour, looking at an ‘initial loan’ with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season for £17m.

What En-Nesyri could bring to Everton

There is no doubt about it, Moyes’ side need to be better in front of goal to really reach the next level. Well, Moroccan star En-Nesyri will certainly bring bags of experience and a good goal record to their attack if he were to move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

His form in a Fenerbahce shirt this season has been impressive. In 15 Super Lig games so far, the 28-year-old has found the back of the net seven times.

Last season, he bagged 20 times in 34 top-flight appearances, which is exactly the sort of quality missing at Everton.

On the international stage with Morocco, En-Nesyri has also made some excellent contributions. He’s scored 25 international goals, with three of those coming in World Cup finals.

Most memorably, he bagged the only goal in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final against Portugal during his side’s historic run.

It is interesting to look at his underlying stats from two seasons as a Fenerbahce player.

In top-flight football last season, he was averaging 0.9 goals and 3.8 successful aerial duels per 90 minutes, compared to 0.7 goals and 1.9 successful aerial duels each game this term.

Stats from Sofascore

If this deal were to get over the line, Toffees fans would be hoping En-Nesyri would be their best striker since the days of Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian was one of the deadliest centre-forwards around during his time at Goodison Park, scoring 87 times in 166 games across all competitions.

An Everton player for four seasons, Lukaku bagged double-figure goals each season, hitting 25 in the league in 2016/17, his final campaign.

He also bagged eight goals in nine Europa League games back in 2014/15.

How Moyes would love for En-Nesyri to recreate that level of goalscoring if he were to join the Toffees. No Everton player has got close to Lukaku’s tally of 25 Premier League goals in his last season.

That was a number the Moroccan came within five of hitting last term.

In that sense, he’d be their best striker since the Belgian left. Described as a “pure goalscorer” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Everton need his goals to help push higher up the table this term.
