The West Indies’ three-day tour game ahead of their two-Test series in India has been shifted from Cuttack to Jadavpur University Complex in Kolkata. The Odisha Cricket Association is unable to host the match, between the West Indians and Uttar Pradesh from October 31, due to torrential rains over the past week, which also caused the abandonment of India’s ODI against Australia on Saturday. The BCCI working committee, meeting in Chennai, finalised the alternative venue.Even though Mumbai had emerged as a frontrunner for hosting the warm-up game, Kolkata was said to be the best option considering the visiting team’s travelplans. This would mean that West Indies, who are scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on October 28, will get an additional day on November 3 – which was originally scheduled to be a travel day – to prepare for the opening Test, which begins at Eden Gardens on November 6.
